Response from founder of Verpa Jeff Trueman

A draft already exists. Ask those National Guard people who are being kept way past their times because Bush chose to go into Iraq to one up his daddy.

This is so true .. pulling people out of the "IRR" a paper soldier says it all.

Also, the Selective Service boards are manned and ready to roll ... why if there is no draft pending? I believe Congress and Bush pumped in 25M for this. I applied and they told me I could volunteer. Obviously, my volunteer time is being applied to help the past veterans and their families prevail on issues of service-connected injury and injustice to be redressed to institute reforms for the future service member. (Which the future is today under Bush.)

Essentially, S-89 is still alive ...

S.89 'A bill to provide for the common defense by requiring that all young persons in the United States, including women, perform a period of military service or a period of civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, and for other purposes.'

H.R. 163 and its recent House vote was a sick ploy to help Bush.

However, since the end of the Cold War when they screwed so many of us who made up the 4 million volunteer military due to early outs, and the like, in late 90's Congress realized they were having problems manning a peacetime military. Then Gulf War I and now 400,000+ honorable soldiers sick and no treatment. Now this Neo-Con treasonous war for personal and political agendas having no true bearing on National security. When will it end? Maybe when the military and some leaders in Congress are held to account by the Public in general something will happen for the good of the Nation.

What America needs is a draft and then watch the rich and privileged cry foul when their kids are sent off to die for political and personal agendas of people like Bush, Cheney and the lot.

In sum, Americans soldiers are being used as "pawns for foreign policy." Both, Kerry, Bush and all of Congress are guilty! Oh, for those who don't know it -- Kissinger in 1976 made the comment;

"Military men are dumb stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy."

Do you recall who Bush picked to lead the 9-11 (Warren Commission) ???
