Dear Ocean Outfall Group (OOG), dedicated to ending the 301(h) waiver held by the Orange County Sanitation District (OCSD):

Lots of good press to celebrate our victory. Here are samples:

Sewage to Be Fully Treated
Environmentalists win sea-sewage showdown
O.C. Studies Proposals to Treat Sewage
Getting Down 'n' Dirty on the Sewage Waiver
'Poseidon's trident' spearheads victory
Sanitation district dumps controversial waiver
New full-treatment sewage decision applauded

Check out tomorrow's papers, as the disinfection issue is sure to be reported. I was not able to attend the whole RWQCB meeting today, but I heard the bleach proposal was unanimously approved. By the way, if you get a chance to drive down Coast Highway between Newport Beach and Huntington Beach, look offshore. You'll see a huge crane and barges carrying ballast rock. This is to repair the OCSD outfall pipe. Notice how close to shore this operation is. I wonder if this outfall pipe is leaking you-know-what just off the beaches having the greatest contamination levels. Check it out.
