Big push from those who wish to continue using the Orange County sewage waiver, as their last-ditch attempt surfaces:

*Ask OCSD Board to allow staff to prepare the waiver application, and postpone vote on what "level of treatment" to use*

This on the theory that it gives them more options. The vote this Wednesday is very close, Register is pulling out all the stops in fighting for the "freedom" to discharge sewage. Each person counts, bring friends, relatives and others.

The Times has been supportive of Clean Ocean, and published some responses to Prof. Grants:

LOS ANGELES TIMES, OC edition (registration required for on-line access)
Letters to the editor by Joey Racano, Eric Hardeman, Don McGee, Dennis Baker, Rob Nelson, and Rick Wilson, all for clean Ocean.

ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, Your Freedom Newspaper
Pat Brennan's front-page article claims "...science so far has failed...A $5.1 million study...found no connection between the offshore plume and bacteria on the beach..." so apparently sewage discharges are fun and not a problem, as Prof. Seemoor Grants claims, and the creatures of the ocean love it. http://ocregister.com/news/waiver00714cci2.shtml

FREEDOM AT ISSUE, a major Opinion Instrument of Your Freedom Newspaper features a Senior Editorial Manager and Policy Director on how *irrational sentiment* may force *excessive sewage treatment*, to the detriment of *logic and science* and, ultimately, degrade the American Way of Life and So On. http://ocregister.com/commentary/columns/greenhut/2002/greenhut20020714.shtml

Difficult to imagine that some would remain so wedded to the idea of dumping sewage where their "freedom" leads them
