Dear OOG:

The long awaited CEC (California Energy Commission) report on the AES plant's contribution to beach pollution is now available. See below email by Lorraine White of the CEC:

August 12, 2003

Hello Everyone
As you may know, the California Energy Commission directed a study (conducted by Komex) of surf zone water quality impacts associated with the AES Huntington Beach Generating Station. This study, with sampling done in the summer/fall of 2002, primarily focused on the plant's effects on concentrations of indicator bacteria.

I wanted to let you know that we have posted on our website (see address below) the final draft report produced by Komex for the Energy Commission regarding this study. We look forward to any comments or input you may have on this work. Please direct technical comments to me at this email address no later than September 5, 2003.

The report can be found at:

You can also click on the site at: AES CEC Report

Note also the followup email by Lorraine of the discussion session about this report to be held on August 26 at OCSD:

August 13, 2003:

A few days ago, I wrote to informed you that the AES Huntington Beach Generating Station Surf Zone Water Quality Study has been posted on the Commission's website. This study was conducted by Komex H2O Science on behalf of the Commission. I have requested that any comments on the report be submitted to me by September 5, 2003.

For those that are interested, I have scheduled a meeting to discuss the study and its results. This meeting will be held at the OCSD Administration Building on Tuesday August 26 at 1 pm. Space is limited so I'll need to know if you are interested in attending. Please let me know by 8.18 if you plan to attend the meeting. Thank you.
